I’m trying to express my surprise without sounding sarcastic because i really had no idea, that makes a lot of sense given Natalie Cole is Sawyers vocals, Danny has a southern accent (i think)and all the animals are incredibly poor.

Cats Don’t Dance is one of the funnest movies ever. The songs, the voice acting, the animation, all of it very colorful. The animation is very consistent which is very rare, especially for a movie made before 2000. Most of the movies back then, you could see major differences because of the diversity of animators. But this movie remains smooth the whole way through. Animating dancing isn’t easy either. The voices are perfect. The songs match the tone PERFECTLY. It’s one of the best movies ever.
Well technically, it is based off something. It’s a metaphor of the racial discrimination in the early 1900’s in the entertainment industry.
It is simply the best 2d musical ever made for these reasons.
1. It isnt based on another story, it’s 100% original.
2. The songs are well written and sung with heart.
3. It has a moral message for every person whose ever had their own dream.
I’m glad by Mark Dindalls second movie he got Disney behind him because that probably made it more popular.
The best 2d musical based on a story prior to it’s release has to be Aladin in my opinion.
