Why would you let your children on answers and then complain that others asked questions that made the child have to ask you questions you were uncomfortable answering.

I feel yahoo answers is not a place to allow children to browse and a good parent/grandparent would not let their child on their and lay blame on others for the child seeing things they deemed inappropriate.
What do you all think about allowing your children on a website then complaining that the subject manner is too mature?
Create a video blog…instantly.

No, there is no such thing as a stupid or inappropriate question.
well my son is nine years old so he has no business being on yahoo answers. I believe that if a parent allows their child on it then they are to blame not the question askers!!! This site is like all the other ones… I’m sure there are predators on here too.
It’s like letting your kids watch Cinemax late at night and getting angry that there is soft porn on there.
i dont have kids lol im 18…. but some parents probably don’t even know about yahoo answers. and yeah little kids shoudn’t be asking questions on yahoo. some people just don’t monitor their kids internet control and probably should.
I completely agree with you. I think that todays children are growing up too fast and then regretting they didn’t hold onto childhood a little longer. Allowing your child to do Y!A and then complaining about adult content is stupid. People shouldn’t blame their parenting problems on a website…
I don’t think its a place for children either….but then lets define *child/children* Supposedly, anyone 12 or under can’t even log into Y!A or view its content….but since I’m waay over 12, I can’t verify that.
I know there have been times that my teenager has been standing here while I’m looking though Qs and As….and she’ll read some of them with me and laugh…..from her view, there are a LOT of teenagers on here…..
I would never open something that has objectional content while she is right here though….at least not knowingly…..I do have parental controls on this computer and she knows she can’t even try to get to myspace.com, zanga.com and quite a few others……
It is the parents responsibility to know what their kids are doing, to monitor them - this is something I take very seriously…..
I say you are so true! That is how I felt about that girl who killed herself from Myspace harassment. Why was she even on myspace anyways??? And why is it the harassers fault, she was the one unhappy with her life obviously if she killed herself. I mean think about it, she killed herself behind words typed on a computer. No physical body with armed guns harassed her just words. Horrible tragedy, but really no ones fault but her owns or her parents.
Exactly. Just another excuse for a bad parent to cast the blame on. They aren’t raising their kids right and therefore wanna cast all the blame on any and everything else they can. Like the lady above me said PARENTAL CONTROLS!!!! If ya dont want ur kid lookin at something BLOCK it….simple as that. ANd I hope a parent doesn’t come on here saying Y!A is a place kids can find answers to homework, etc….cause ALL Of the BA’s from homework help probably came from google. Besides, WE dont need to be doing YOUR kids homework….thats NOT what this site is for….
My daughter is 7 and she in never on the computer where I am not sitting right beside her. I feel it is my job to monitor what she is doing and what sites she is visiting, it’s in my job description=)
I AGREE, I AGREE, I AGREE, Some parents want to blame other people for their mistakes, I personally feel that the internet is no place for children! I mean websites that are not games for little children!
Would you plz check this out?
You are right, what is even more of a problem is that if parents are letting their young children on YA they are probably not monitoring their internet usage at all. There is a lot of inappropriate stuff on the internet. Trust me, I am in some of it. Parents should be making an effort to protect their children to exposure of mature subject manner, instead of expecting strangers to monitor themselves.
